Early Glimpses of Oracle

Abstract Weldon and Alexander McKay were prospecting when they drifted from California into Arizona and became the first white settlers to stake a claim at the Oracle mine in 1878. This is an undated, typed copy of a manuscript entitled "Early Glimpses of Oracle: A historical and descriptive paper by Frank C. Lockwood," which mentions Weldon and Alexander McKay, the Oracle mine, health resorts, clubs, public buildings, churches, scenery, and the curative climate of Arizona.

Scope and contents This folders consists of a 13-page typed report, "Excavation of Quirigua, Guatemala by the School of American Archaeology," written by Edgar L. Hewett. This report was created circa 1913 after the third year of work at the excavation site. Hewett acknowledges other members of the expedition team S.G. Morley, Jesse Nusbaum, Gerard Fowke, and Earl Morris.
