Weldon and Alexander McKay were prospecting when they drifted from California into Arizona and became the first white settlers to stake a claim at the Oracle mine in 1878. This is an undated, typed copy of a manuscript entitled "Early Glimpses of Oracle: A historical and descriptive paper by Frank C. Lockwood," which mentions Weldon and Alexander McKay, the Oracle mine, health resorts, clubs, public buildings, churches, scenery, and the curative climate of Arizona.
