Scope and contents
This is an offprint of a 20th Century special edition print of a letter from Fernando Cortes to Cristobal Onate. The letter was original written in Spanish in 1535 May 14. The Cortes letter describes his exploration of Santa Cruz, Mexico and the Santiago, San Miguel, and San Cristobal islands. There is also a "selected bibliography of Cortes in California" and a translation of a portion of a 1535 Royal Order for Marques del Valle de Ozxaca to act as governor of lands discovered by...

This is a 6-page handwritten letter and envelope from Walter A.J. Bleyle to his sister Dolly Lent. Bleyle writes about his life in Montana. He mentions he is getting good at shooting gopher, catching fish, and handling horses. He tells his sister that she can have any of the belongings he left behind in Massachusetts. He is hoping to purchase land in Montana. He might be able to get a piece land located within the boundaries of a reservation through a land claim dispute.
