Biographical / Historical
S.H. Wiley was a Presbyterian minister in Santa Cruz, California. He dedicated the first church in 1851, and was still conducting services in 1879.
"Santa Cruz: To-day at 11 o'clock union Thanksgiving services were held in the M. E. Church, Rev. S. H. Wiley delivering the sermon." From Sacramento Daily Union, Volume 8, Number 325, 28 November 1879.
"The First Presbyterian Church was organized in 1849. In the latter part of 1850 a neat building of wood was erected on a fifty-vara lot situated on the east side of Second Street, between Santa Clara and St. John Streets. The building cost $3000, and was dedicated February 9, 1851, by Rev. S. H. Wiley." From History of Santa Clara County.
