Scope and Contents
This is a collection of typed, signed manuscripts by Frank A. Schilling. Most are manuscripts from the Conservation Association of Los Angeles County's broadcasts on KECA as part of the Chaparral Club program. Scripts are from broadcasts from 1932 October 28 - 1937 September. This collection also includes other manuscripts, such as two manuscripts by Schilling entitled "Al Sieber, Chief of Apache Scouts," one is a memorial address and the other is a typescript of a chapter that appears in the Westerner's Brand Book, Los Angeles Chapter, 1948. Also includes Folklore of Native Trees of California (with F.W. Hodge writing), Wild Flower Lore inscribed to FWH from FAS, three manuscripts on fire in relation to human culture, Apr., Aug. and Sept. 1937, and program on “Fisherman’s Fiesta at Monterey, CA.”

Historical note
The Conservation Association of Los Angeles County was founded in 1924 after a summer of devastating mountain wildfires. It was closely tied to the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. The purpose of the organization was to promote fire prevention and water conservation and to give the chamber influence over public conservation education, technical advice to governments, and the shaping of conservation policies.
