The Soboba News

 Collection
Identifier: MS-1268

Scope and Contents

This newspaper was hand written by students at the Soboba Day School in 1893. It has one article about a trip to San Francisco by train from Los Angeles and the sights that were seen and where the two Indian boys stayed. It has one line comments about many of the students as to the activities they are doing, where they live, if they are sick, etc. One article states they are writing the newspaper to note the things that are happeninng in Soboba every day, week, or month and to show our people that we are getting a nice education. It helps us in our language, spelling, capital letters and puinctuation. Every new Soboba News that we write is going to be improved, because we are not going to stay in one place but we are going a head, UP, Up, and onward. It appears that they make more than one copy of the newspaper. The newspapear also includes hand drawn adds for pottery makers, wood sellers, and a cane seller.
