Biographical note
Dwight “Skip” Gillette is a retired police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Skip began his career with the LAPD in 1970. In his thirty-eight years with the LAPD he served as beat-cop, detective, and motorcycle officer. As a LAPD officer from 1970-2008, Skip reported for duty during many historical moments in the city’s history such as political demonstrations, the Rodney King beating, and the 1992 civil unrest that followed.
